We had been really looking forward to our week in Florida at Mimi and Pop's house and also to Amanda and Brian's wedding. Tim has been working in Phoenix, so a week to lie by the pool, read and relax together was just what we needed.
Unfortunately, we didn't get quite that. Tim's grandmother, Cate and Timmy's Great-Grandma Zee, passed away the morning that we were leaving on our trip. Tim flew back to Des Moines for three days to be there for the funeral and that also meant that Nana wouldn't be joining us for this trip.
Over the first half of the trip, Cate had a serious accident in the pool, I spent the night in the emergency room after being sick all day with a nasty bug...and by the way, when you go to the ER in a retirement community, you are just about the last priority...and then the next day my mom came down with the bug too. Hopefully with a vacation like this under our belt, we won't have to worry about another disastrous trip for awhile.
Toward the end of the week we rallied and engaged in our usual Florida activities, swimming, eating, reading, dancing and ice cream. Then we headed to Disney for Amanda and Brian's wedding at the Grand Floridian. It was a beautiful wedding and awesome reception. Mickey and Minnie even stopped by for a few dances which all of the kids loved....from a distance.
